The University
The University of Ljubljana is the oldest and largest university in Slovenia. It has approximately 38'000 enrolled students. The University of Ljubljana is an institution with a very rich tradition. It ranks among the largest universities on the world scale. It has 23 faculties and three art academies with approximately 4'000 teaching and research staff, assisted by approximately 2'000 technical and administrative staff. The university was founded in the centre of Ljubljana, where the central university building and the majority of its faculties are located. Later on, some new, modern buildings were constructed in the suburbs of the city. The study courses run at the University of Ljubljana and its projects follow the latest world discoveries and trends in the field of art, science and technology, to which the contribution of numerous Slovenian professors and researchers is of great importance.
The Supervisor
Prof. Dr. Polona Žnidaršič-Plazl is a Full Professor of Chemical Technology at University of Ljubljana, with an extensive research background in biochemical engineering, enzyme technology, and biotechnology. Her research focuses on the implementation of microflow systems in biocatalysis and downstream processing. Professor Žnidaršič-Plazl is an initiator and Co-Chair of the highly acclaimed series of conferences on Implementation of Microreactor Technology in Biotechnology (IMTB), which has brought together international experts to discuss the application of microreactor technology in biotechnology. Additionally, she serves as the principal investigator in several EU- and national projects, proving her leadership and commitment to advancing the field of biotechnology.
