The University

The University of Córdoba is a university in Córdoba, in AndalusiaSpain, chartered in 1972. It offers undergraduate and postgraduate studies in humanities, social sciences, health sciences, natural sciences and engineering. Although it was established in 1972, UCO is the inheritor of the Free University of Córdoba (Universidad Libre de Córdoba), which operated in the province in the late 19th century. Centenary institutions like the Faculty of Veterinary Science depend on UCO. UCO stands out for its specialization in natural sciences, offering degrees in chemistry, biology, environmental sciences and agronomic and forest engineering. It is also specialized in medical sciences, offering degrees in nursing, pharmaceutical chemistry, and medicine, closely linked to the Reina Sofía University Hospital.

The Supervisor

Prof. Dr. Alina M. Balu is Associate Professor in the field of catalysis at the University of Cordoba. Her extensive research experience in (nano)materials science, heterogeneous (nano)catalysis, flow chemistry, and green methods for synthetic chemistry is evident from her publication record, which includes over 100 peer-reviewed papers, two patent applications, and contributions to seven book chapters. She has also edited two books and serves on the editorial boards of several journals, including Molecular Catalysis and Scientific Reports.
